After making its first appearance at the 2004 Paris Motor Show, Chevrolet has announced that their new compact SUV Captiva will start selling across Europe from mid-2006.
It will be the first compact Chevrolet SUV to have a diesel engine - a two-litre, 112kW, common-rail, direct-injection turbodiesel - but a 105kW, 2.4-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine will the alternative. It will be available with five or seven seats and in either front or all-wheel drive variants.
Captiva is said to be the first model in its European range with an electronic stability control and retains all the design elements of its S3X concept.
Captiva will be making its world premiere at the Geneva Show in March 2006 and will be debuting in UK at the British International Motor Show in London in July 2006.
The diesel engine of the SUV has been developed in cooperation between GM Powertrain and VM in Italy. It is the first application of a family of diesel engines that will later become available in the range of Lacetti 5-door, 4-door and Station Wagon models.
