Design Challenge Robocar 2057: Nissan OneOne
Parul | Oct 15 2007

Nissan calls it the ultimate pet for the year 2057 where robots become a vital part of our lives blurring the line between humans and machines.

OneOne (pronounced ‘won-won’, an endearing Japanese description of a barking dog) is meant to take care of every aspect of family’s busy lives from retrieving dry cleaning and groceries, to nursing to the children.

This futuristic machine is guided by a real time GPS network which enables it to take children safely to school and back home in time for dinner.

Using synthetic muscles in its ‘legs’, it propels itself along by skating just like a pair of rollerblades. From performance car to city car, it lies down for speed or stands up for better visibility, allowing for more nimble navigation and easier parking.

The design team for Nissan OneOne: Bruce Campbell, Doug Wilson, Robert Bauer, Bryan Thompson, Rie Arroba, Jeremy Malick, Laurie Tait, Matt Wilson, Soichi Maruyama.
