EDAG’s ‘Open Source’ customizable concept for Geneva Show
Harshpaul | Jan 21 2009

EDAG’s concept car for the Geneva Motor Show has a strange name – “Light Car - Open Source” but it manages to take care of the key facilities for the car of the future. The car uses OLEDs to communicate with the driver, and also has OLED based body panels, front and rear lamps. While the use of OLEDs raises the eco-coefficient of the car, it also works for customization.

As the entire surface of the vehicle functions much like the monitor of a multimedia system, the driver can change the shape and form of these lights, and go on with any theme (and color) suitable. Interiors can also be customized similarly. Customization is the buzz word for this car; the sheer flexibility of the concept is impressive.

Use of light, strong and environment friendly basalt fiber composite for the concept’s construction is an innovative step and could work well with future cars. EDAG says the all-electric car could cover 150km on a single charge.
