Haishang Deng's Bionic Chameleon Truck bags VDA Design Award

What I don’t like about the traditional trucks is that they look ugly, scaring and huge. If somebody would have told me we that there can be creativity added to a truck, I would have probably laughed, but not after seeing this one. The Bionic Chameleon Truck looks like a true next generation truck with its smart and vibrant yellow body and unique shape. It already has won the VDA Design Award for its superbly flexible design.

Definitely inspired from one of the intricate creations of God, the Centipede, this truck not only looks like a centipede, but looks works like one too. Designer Haishang Deng must have found this intriguing creature to answer the worries pertaining to heavy cargo loaded trucks. This centipede truck is however named ‘Bionic Chameleon Truck’, because of the varied tasks it partakes.

Made of resilient soft tarpaulin, Bionic Chameleon Truck can adjust the shape of its loading compartment as and when required to accommodate the cargo, without compromising the strength of the body. As seen from the image, the driver’s cockpit is hanging over the cargo in a crane like manner. This makes it easy to keep control over the vehicle and the tarpaulin body helps reducing damage caused by accidents. Unlike other modern vehicles, it is powered with automated front loading and also proves green by absorbing less fuel owing to its lightness.
