Honda's New NSX wont be a Hybrid

Honda has revealed that its highly awaited supercar NSX will be launched at the next Japanese Motor Show in 2009, and will be badged as an Acura. Honda CEO, Takeo Fakui, has denied rumors that the new supercar had been postponed and would run a petrol-electric powertrain.

The automaker has confirmed that NSX would be powered by a V10 petrol engine which is still in development. Moreover, the engine would not be getting any backing from an electric motor.

Honda insiders have predicted that it will place emphasis on a low kerbweight and the new V10, thought to be a 500bhp 5.0-litre, which will be very economical for its power and capacity.

Just like its predecessor, the next NSX is likely to have an aluminium body. Speculations are that it will perhaps be a front-engined 2+2, further enhancing its reputation as a supercar to drive everyday.

Honda has confirmed that the new NSX will be globally sold as an Acura and will wear a Honda badge. Fakui cited:

The new NSX must have speed and be easy to drive and be considerate to the enviroment. But it’s not a hybrid
