Ralph Lauren: A designer, 'now' a car collector
Munish | Oct 10 2007

I guess everybody around the fashion world recognizes Ralph Lauren and most of us through the laurels he gained with his well renowned Polo fashion label.

But, one thing we didn’t have any clue about or wouldn’t even have suspected is that the guy is an absolute car fanatic.

He owns one of the most astonishing car collections on the planet, the one which can make the most renowned of the car collectors jealous.

Now, when he has unlocked the compilation of his priced possession to the world together with discovery channel, it surely puts on an awesome show.

His car collection (mostly classics) was aired on a one hour TV documentary named Speed, Style and Beauty: The Ralph Lauren Car Collection. The show was a great display or I would say a bounty for the eyes of any vintage car lover as it hosted some exquisite timeless beauties.

The overall assemblage of 29 of such ageless heartthrobs included a Bugatti (Atlantic Coupe), a rare version McLaren F1LM (only five of these vehicles were created), First ever supercharged Bentely that came into existence, a 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 Mille Miglia, 1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, 1930 Mercedes-Benz ‘Count Trossi’ SSK and a 1961 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa 61 Spyder Fantuzzi.

Surely, some eternal pieces of work and definitely a mind boggling show for the car buffs.

But, for those of you who missed the telecast, there is no reason to get disheartened because it will surely make dozens of more appearances on the same channel, all you need to make sure is that you are tuned-in at the right time.
