Re-created 1954 Carrera Cadillac to race again
Zodingliani | Jun 30 2006

With a 1954 Cadillac loaned by Barry Motor Sales, Keith Andrews and Blu Plemons competed and won in the 1954 Carrera Panamericana - the Mexican Road Race. Repeating history — GM’s Performance Division and Cadillac has done a ‘frame-on’ restoration of the car after finding it in GM Heritage Car Collection.

Al Oppenheiser, GM Performance Division director of concept vehicle engineering confesses:

We made updates that would enhance the vehicle and occupant safety but maintain the original design intent.

Such restorations have a reason, and this one is special — the restored Cadillac will participate again in the Carrera Panamericana this fall. Better still, with Blu Plemons coming in at the starting line in Oaxaca.

Hope Plemons would be able to prove again what Cadillac stands for - power, style, and performance.
