Noted french car maker Renault, in collaboration with Rollerblade, are designing a sophisticated, spacious and stylish sports utility car, mainly meant for active adults. The car, named Kangoo Compact Concept, is to be developed, at least at the prototype stage, with embedded racks for inline skates. Planned to be launched in 2009, the Compact has three doors and its design resembles that of a van. Renault displayed this sleek sports utility vehicle for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show that was held last September. There has already been plenty of excitement in the automotive press about this new car, that is being described as roomy, stylish, exciting and certainly different from the ordinary, run-of-the-mill SUVs.
The Compact, according to its makers, have been designed with due consideration for the ‘shared values of mobility, togetherness and lust for life.’ The car’s theme is based on the concept of roller-skating, and it sports a cheery orange and blue colour pattern. The colour scheme, in fact, resembles that of certain versions of Rollerblade’s freestyle skate ,Twister(The current version of Twister is of an orange and black pattern).
Each side of the prototype of this innovative sports car has a handy skate rack that is revealed by a scooped tailgate. No information regarding the gas mileage or availability of the car has yet been made public. The Compact is anticipated to bear a price tag of $17,600(US). With its stylish features, attractive provisions for inline skates and the assurance of quality that comes with any Renault product, the Kangoo Compact is certainly expected to delight sports car-lovers and skating-fans alike.
