The old and the new: 2009 Gullwing-America 300 SL Panamericana
Harshpaul | Apr 27 2009

The original Mercedes 300SL had a great design that is in a way, timeless. Designer Arturo Alonso has created the Gullwing-America 300SL Panamerica concept. Inspired by the 300SL, the concept includes the latest in technology. Built on a powder coated steel chassis, the body is fiberglass-reinforced aluminum.

Power comes from a supercharged Mercedes M-133-55 engine, a 5.5-l V8 that generates 370 hp. Transmission is either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed Speedtronic automatic. A V6 version is also in the works. The concept will soon make way for production, with a number of modern gadgets added.
