The wooden Splinter Supercar with a speed of 300km/h!

Naturally powerful! A supercar made of wood is like envisaging a world of Flintstones only that this will have an awe-inspiring speed of 300km/h. The Splinter Supercar has been designed by a group of students from the North Carolina State University.

Made of wooden body parts, wheels and chasis, the car will look like a concoction of some of the best features in the visually appealing cars from Koenisegg and Lamborghini. The Splinter Supercar, a 450kW projectile, weighs something less than 1150 Kgs. Powered with twin supercharged Northstar V8, the car will have a wonderful performance.

The amazing Splinter Supercar uses Osage Orange that is one of the strongest yet lithe timber for its suspension springs. The car also takes care of getting rid of the heat created while the vehicle is in full motion. It has been equipped with exhaust spots at the top of the block, passing through mufflers.

Now, in an age when the automobile industry is coming with new and lighter materials for cars, the wish to see wooden cars in the street is dream. Yet, we need not debate over the functionality, when the Splinter Supercar is a visual treat and an example of creativity at the top.
