And the argument continues... a recently conducted study by J.D. Power reveals that there is a lot of difference in choices that opposite sexes make in vehicles that they pick. While women seem interested in Volvo’s and Suzuki’s, men prefer buying sports cars instead.
The difference in the choices appears to be in the existence from the initiation and there is no point in arguing about it. While the car which steals the credit of having the highest female ownership in the luxury segment is the Volvo S40, men still seems to be inclined towards the High-performance Audi RS4.
This study by J.D. Power & Associates Power Information Network about cars with the highest rate of female ownerships exposes a fact that while opting for a car, women make the choice from their head, while men follow their heart.
Women prefer some rational entry level cars and small SUV’s that accentuate on safety, quality, consistency and worth, rather going for sportscars.
No doubt that thousands of females do go for fast cars instead of some sensible entry level cars but these will only count as exceptions.
S40 stands first in the top ten hot favorite lists and the brand Volvo definitely seems to have impressed women with three of its models making it to the top ten lists. Of course the S40 is the darling among all, the V50 wagon standing at No.7 and the S60 sedan at No. 9. Volvo also took the No. 1 spot for any luxury brand for an overall female ownership at 42.5 percent compared with the luxury brand average of 35.8 percent.
If we consider all price categories, the PIN sample data which was collected surveying hundred of dealerships around US through the end of August 2007 reveals that women bought 37.3 percent of new vehicles sold in 2007.
And taking a glance for all car segments, S40 is the fifth most wanted models at the women’s buying list. Volkswagen’s new Beetle turns out to be the most preferred car with 58.3 percent female buyers. Suzuki turns out to be the number one brand preferred by women this year.
